the sun came out
today
it warmed the earth
teasing buds into
poking furry heads out
to test the air

the day began
earlier today
sunrise racing across the yard
chasing shadows and moonbeams back
into the night

the west wind sighed
today
seeing the end of winter
in its sights

and when the sun set again
as it curved towards the waiting earth
I distinctly saw it
wink
